Cargo hatch virtually finished, just a bit of varnish required. Deckhouse slowly getting fitted out. Funnel is done but not yet fixed, wheel house coming on
I am just starting to build my North Light model. Please can you give some advice on paint type and colours needed. A source would also be very helpful. Thanks for posting your progress. It will be very useful.
Hi Stuart, thanks for looking at my blog. I have stopped building at the moment because of a pending house move but am always happy to help although I’m not an expert as this is only my second build. I will put some more photos on later today. Paint! I tend to use whatever I have, for instance, the reddy brown on the hull below waterline is Red oxide anti rust paint! I also use acrylic paints - the black is acrylic as is the red on the stack. I also use some enamel paints , Humbrol for instance do a nice gold and bronze for some of the metal fittings. As to source, I use local model shops or The Range have good range of acrylic and enamel paint. I have used the on line shop www.hobbies.co.uk for tools, glues, and other bits and pieces. Hope this is useful
Been away from it for a while, I have fitted the servo and temporarily linked it to rudder just test it works ok. I have fitted cut waters and the stem plates and the capping rails ( steam to bend them) . Wash port covers guard rails fitted and have started to paint the decks and the outside hull. Just started on the deck house having finished the hatch, which will be partially exposed to show the cargo when finished.
Looking good
